External beauty
of a painting's surface is one
of the most important elements of works painted by
Ewa Granowska - it is their
essence and also a moment of inspiration. Especially, it
is expressed by colour, often supported by texture,
which is based on domination of pastel tones mixed with
white and silvery grey (for example: "The Composition in
Grey", "The Composition in Green and Pink").

Ariadna Sarnowicz, 1977
Painting by Ewa
Granowska are distinguished by the excellent sense of
colour. In her paintings, the artist creates specific
atmosphere, using almost monochromatic (silver
grey and white) spectrum of colours, rarely
contrasted by a spot of deep red, bronze or green. Her
experiments with space are also noteworthy. She cuts the
space out from the world and closes it in sort of small
windows, and finally composes it in a painting as a
whole. An eye perceives this puzzle to be balanced and
harmonious, and is being engaged by play of variable
horizons and perspectives - still without being certain
of the correct interpretation of this "landscape", with
a possibility of sumbitting to perverseness of the
composition (...)
Communing with these
works of art as like a silent, discreet conversation
with someone similar to us and yet capable of showing us
new experiences, a fresh view, warmth and colours of
feelings. And, if necessary, of showing their sharpness,
complexity and dramatic nature.
